A Powerful New Treatment to Release Nerves
Nerve hydrodissection is a technique used to free up pinched nerves to decrease pain and inflammation due to chronic nerve compression.
“Nerve hydrodissection can result in substantial pain relief even when surgery fails.”
Using state of the art technology, the spine and sports specialists at Spine & Sports Medicine of New York accurately diagnose, target, and relieve the source of pain, to get you back to your active lifestyle.
What is nerve hydrodissection?
Nerve hydrodissection is the use of fluid to release a compressed nerve from its surrounding tissue. In many cases, a nerve is pinched as it crosses through a fascial plane and that chronic compression causes a deep aching pain that is frustratingly difficult to identify. It is most commonly used to treat carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome. It is also used to resolve entrapments of the saphenous nerve, peroneal nerve and lateral femoral cutaneous nerve.
After a local skin anesthetic is applied to numb the injection site, a needle is inserted into the site of interest and directed towards the compressed nerve and its surrounding tissue.
To ensure accuracy and safety, our physicians perform the procedure under ultrasound guidance. A dilute dextrose solution is delivered into the space to decrease the nerve inflammation as well as to separate the tissue from the nerve resulting in relief of pain.
How long does it take?
Nerve hydrodissection is performed on an outpatient basis. The procedure typically requires one hour, including preparation and recovery time.
How often should this procedure be done?
This procedure may be repeated several times as needed to fully separate the nerve from its surrounding tissues.
What are the expected results?
Nerve hydrodissection can be very successful in relieving pain. The benefit from this procedure will typically occur two to seven days following the procedure. This therapy combined with a routine of stretching allows many individuals to enjoy a pain free lifestyle
Really sharp. Great background and credentials. Very accommodating once he knew leaving country on vacation. Picked up previously unknown BP issue in thorough exam and found possible hernia other doctors missed. Laid out complex diagnostic and treatment plan that made a lot of sense and was comprehensive, but also conservative. Did all the right things. New office. Liked him. Very competent staff too. Recommend without reservations.
